Relapse Triggers

Research has shown that relapse into both overeating and drug addiction can be stimulated by a range of triggers.  These include places, people, objects, smells, sights, sounds, and even thoughts.  The role of triggers into refined food addiction may be one of the reasons that people find it difficult to stick with a weight loss program.  The Foundation is committed to providing means for people to avoid food-related triggers through the provision of ready-to-eat unrefined meals.  If you would be interested in participating in test marketing of ready-to-eat meals, please e-mail joan@refinedfoodaddiction.org.

Support groups also mitigate the impact of triggers.  Twelve step support groups such as Food Addicts Anonymous and  Food Addicts in Recovery www.foodaddictsinrecovery.com can be effective in overcoming triggers.  Please visit Acorn Treatment at www.foodaddiction.com for more information about support groups.
