Abstinence

Treatment for refined food addiction has historically been centered on classic addiction treatment models which provide for eliminating the substances that are used in the addictive behavior.  In the case of refined food addiction, the Foundations’ early research and the observations of practitioners in the field indicate that a variety of refined foods are used addictively.  These include all sweeteners (both artificial and ‘natural’), flour, some fats, salt, caffeine, dairy, and in some cases nuts.
